For Henry Washington, life was kind of rough as a kid. He grew up on the streets of New York, around and about Harlem. His mom was a single woman when he was born, and when she finally did marry, his step-father was a gangster and a mean ass drunk. He got killed in a drug war early in 2000, and after that, Henry took it upon himself to try to provide for his mother. He dropped out of school as soon as he could in order to get a job that didn’t pay too well.
When his real father came for a Visitation, none other than John Henry himself, young Henry Washington had some bitterness over his lot in life, but he eventually came around after his father out-stubborned him. It took Henry awhile to realise that strong men are tempered by fire and tribulation.
Lured in by the promise of helping out in the Titan War more effectively than he ever could on his own, Henry found his way to Michael Celevos’ university and soon regretted it. He was a part of the uprising against the mad demigod, an uprising that went very badly and would have seen them all killed or enslaved were it not for the timely arrival of the Scrivners.
Once it was all over and Michael Celevos was imprisoned, Henry Washington went back to New York and accepted the invitation from the Scrivners to watch over their Hub and the safety of New York itself while they were running Overworld missions. He’s now the leader of the Band stationed there, and he has a terrible, terrible crush on Manjula, one she doesn’t seem to be reciprocating.
