Born in Los Angeles, California, Heather Lane was the product of a union between the goddess Hera and a wealthy, mortal businessman. Following her birth, young Heather was left with her father to be raised, Hera (who had been posing as a mortal woman) “divorced” her father and left for parts unknown. As she grew up, Hera was a bright and popular girl. Usually kind, she didn’t play the mean girls’ games with the less popular students, and she ran for student body president and student council positions.

At the age of seventeen, Hera returned to grant her first Visitation, gifting her with several relics in order to do Hera’s will in the world. Heather was then sent to Michael Celevos’ university, at Hera’s command, to study and gain power and prestige, a foothold into this new, emerging power borne of the Atzlanti.

Heather did not distinguish herself in any spectacular way while there, although she remained pleasant and popular. Like her mother, she seemed to be headed for a future of being the Woman Behind the Man. When Vincent and his Band all began their battle with Michael, that’s when her life changed for the worse. Celevos took her, broke her mind to his will, and then sent her back out to befriend Vincent and Del. He used Heather to ultimately betray her newfound friends. After the school itself was destroyed, Heather was rescued by the Scrivners and brought back to their Hub in New York.

Most of her time is now spent trying to recover from what Celevos did to her mind. Rufus Scrivner has been working to unravel those enchantments and free her, but it’s a long, slow and painful road for the girl to walk. It doesn’t help that her own mother, Hera, appeared to her one day, denounced her as useless, and took her birthrights away to give them to ‘a worthier child.’
